Attention All Thespians: You Will Not Want to Miss the Houston Shakespeare Festival

The Houston Shakespeare Festival debuted in 1975 when Dr. Sidney Berger, then Director of the School of Theatre at the University of Houston, met with UH administrators and the Miller Theatre Advisory Board to enlist support for a two-production season of Shakespeare's works to be played in repertory on Miller Outdoor Theatre's bill.

Dr. Berger and UH Theatre professor Cecil Pickett were the original directors for HSF productions, performed free to the public in this unique collaboration between a city and a university. Since its inception, HSF has entertained more than a million theatergoers with free performances in Hermann Park's Miller Outdoor Theatre.

Today, HSF Executive Director Dr. Rob Shimko and Artistic Director Jack Young carry on the great Festival’s great legacy of providing Houston with free, professionally produced Shakespeare classics. Join for a good time as you get the chance to see Hamlet and Comedy of Errors!
